Why this petition matters
What the Palestinian people have been enduring is unfathomable.
We thought that planned displacements, humiliations and massacres against an entire population belonged to the past, done by evil entities that the western democracies had once managed to defeat.
The very same democracies that today seem to have forgotten what humanity is, turning their back to the suffering of an entire population and instead embracing other interests.
Gaza 2023 is only the latest, tragic, chapter in the history of Palestine.
The innocents being massacred in Gaza know they have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. They know that when then next bombing hit their shelter it will be darkness.
But deep in that darkness they see shining sources of hope, the Gaza doctors and healthcare workers.
They are there, operating in dire conditions, assisting anyone with the scarce resources they have, and when nothing is left there is always a hug or a caress that, probably, won’t take the pain away but will make it more bearable.
Surrounded by the incessant bombings and hoping that a hospital is still a safe place, They see eyes filled with horror, desperation and pain completely emptied by any trace of hope and They are aware to be the only hope these people have left.
Gaza doctors are heroes, they show us what humanity is about, an example to anyone and we should all give them the right award.
