Why I closed my LinkedIn account

I have closed my LinkedIn effective from October 23rd (2023).

It was my decision, nothing to do with censorship or else.

From October 23rd all my contents including CV, working experiences and articles will be on my website: http://www.onexcent.com

You can subscribe via e-mail and receive a notification every time I publish something about banking or macroeconomics or if you just want to keep in touch.

Let me explain why I took this decision and bear with me if I will be a bit long.

I have been studying the Palestinian holocaust since 2014 after being in contact (by pure chance) with a journalist that has been there and witnessed the atrocities the Palestinian people must endure to survive the day.

Years passed by and the Palestinian tragedy started to affect me personally, like I had (it may sound absurd) a share of responsibility for what was happening there.

I have tried to clean my conscience by writing small articles or posts but with insignificant results since I am no one and have not visibility.

The latest developments in the Palestinian genocide took another hit on me, never like before I fear the Palestinian will likely be exterminated (sooner or later), it is Israel main goal and they will pursue it no matter what. And I felt even more guilty for that tragedy. Guilty for having food everyday, for having a house to live and have some pleasure from life.

I decided to stop supporting in any shape or form those who are responsible for the holocaust being carried over in Palestine.

I will avoid USA products, due to USA constant support to the Israeli criminals and the same applies to any other country that explicitly “Stand with Israel”.

In practice, no IT products (Microsoft, LinkedIn, HP, Dell, Lenovo, …), no social networks, no streaming services (Netflix, HBO, Prime, …), no snacks/beverages, no tourism in those countries, no online shop services (Amazon, Ebay, …), no clothes or food franchises, no gaming or other entertainment products and no financial products (including stocks). And I will always make sure to double check were a product comes from and to whom I am giving my money before buying it.

My effort will have an infinitesimally small effect but in the long run who knows, if the millions of people around the world that are rightfully protesting against Israeli criminal policies follows my initiative maybe the outcome could be significant.

This is a point I have insisted on many times, public protest marches have very little effect I am afraid, the only serve the purpose of releasing some tension in the population and nothing more. Unless a protest becomes radical and millions of people literally block a country.

Israel is exterminating the Palestinian since 1948, against all possible international laws with USA, UK, France and other UE countries always standing with them, they are non-human criminals and seeing people protesting against them will only fuel their genocidal frenzy.

I believe the only way to send a clear message to Israel supporters it to strike them in the only area where they can feel pain, money.

Think for a second what will happen if tomorrow, Microsoft, Netflix, Coca Cola, Amazon, McDonald, Nike, Facebook, lose millions of customers upon receiving the message “Stop supporting Israel atrocities!” from all former customers?

As always, it is a cultural problem, we are always ready to scream against injustices but when it comes to take concrete actions we are reluctant, we cannot afford to lose the seemingly comfort we have (“Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness”, a quote from Peter Benenson, founder of Amnesty International.).

People in Palestine have been “living” under constant violence, humiliation and imposed poverty and now with barely food, water and medical assistance to be able to survive.

Can you afford to live without Windows, without the one-day delivery of Amazon, without the new season of your favourite series or without posting some pictures on Instagram?

I am an atheist, I don’t believe in any God but I would like to. I would like to be sure that there is something else on the other side, another world, another dimension anything but this world.

Let me believe that the Palestinian population, exterminated by that off-shore US military base that invaded Palestine in 1948 are now in peace somewhere else living a normal life.

Let me believe that those responsible for the Palestinian holocaust will also go to another side where they will suffer hundred folds for what they have done.

Dear Palestinians, when we meet on the other side remember that I did what I could to help and I will understand if you are angry because I didn’t do enough, nonetheless I hope we can be friends and have a nice afterlife.
